Unpaid vacation and sick time due to being laid off

I was employed for 6 years for a company, and they laid me off without proper company procedures. I am looking for my compensation for unpaid sick time and vacation time. The company's policy for having people laid off for a incidents that happened on first time basis, are not fair. There was an incident that happened with me, and I was in asituation that had to comefirst priority. I had to miss basically the whole day of work to resolve these situations. I called in, but they constructed some kind of vice that did not allow me to receive proper company procedures, like being written up for first time. If I can not receive my unpaid vacation time, then what must I do to try to obtain somekinf of recompensation. Aprreciate it very much for a reply.
Thanks.
